We are the only company that can take a customer from the initial screening stage up to full-scale production using the same platform. This minimises scale-up risks and guarantees the shortest time to market for our customers' new product development.

Mini bioreactors and micro bioreactors

We are unique in the mini and micro bioreactor range. No other company can offer a complete solution on this very small scale. We develop systems on a small scale that generate results that can be scaled to production scale. At the moment there are several thousands of Applikon bioreactors used in the world from small scale R&R up to full-scale production.

Advanced bioreactor control systems

Next to our broad and diverse line of bioreactors we specialise in advanced control solutions for the bioreactors. We are the only company in the world that can supply adaptive control systems for all basic parameters in the bioreactor. This allows our users to focus on the bioprocess and not to worry about tuning the control system for optimal performance. The ez-Control system is developed in close cooperation with universities and is definitely a step ahead of the competition. Our i-Control system is the only off the shelf industrial (Siemens and Allen Bradley) control system that can be used from laboratory scale up to production scale bioreactor systems.

All our efforts are focused on supplying the best product for our clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Validation and documentation is a vital part of our development procedures and this is extended throughout our whole company.

Since we started in 1974 we have shown healthy growth and profit. R&D is done in house in our headquarters in Schiedam, The Netherlands. Design and engineering is done in house but real manufacturing is outsourced. Final assembling is done in-house as well as the final testing and documentation. We have our own sales and service organisations in the US (Foster City, California and Dover, New Jersey), the UK (Tewkesbury) and China (Guangzhou). We also have local distributors for sales and service in over 20 countries.

We are continuously executing strategic plans to grow the top line and strengthen its financial performance. New and ongoing programs are exploring new markets, improving service to customers, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs.
